2D Fixed Mount, Small & Miniature Barcode Scanner
Applications needing to embed a barcode scanner require attention to several issues, some of which include:
Working distance – How far away the target reading area is from the face of the fixed mount barcode reader. Assure the barcode to be read is in focus
Field of view – The size of the barcode. Assures the code size does not exceed the viewable area of a fixed mount Imager reader
Symbology – Linear (1D) and/or 2D codes. Study selection of the barcode type. 2D barcodes require area imaging scanners
Read Path – Will there be a glass or acrylic window. Does the reader have to see the target though a window?
Environmental – FCC eye safety compliance. How is the scanner aimed at the target?
Size – Allowable volume for the reader and cabling
Omni directional reading – Assess importance of the ability to read the barcode in any rotation which may be preferred for ease of code presentation by the user
Triggering – How to initiate a read cycle for the fixed mount handsfree barcode scanner.via manual trigger or presentation mode (autotrigger or continuous sampling)..
Motion Tolerance – Review how the barcode be presented, swipe or steady state positioning
Media – Paper, Cellphones, PDA’s. Reflectivity of media surface can present reading complications
